Information & Assistance Specialist

VPAS is accepting interested candidates for a full time Information & Assistance Specialist in VPAS’ Harrisonburg-Rockingham Region.

DAYS/HOURS: Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30

WORKSITE: Harrisonburg VPAS Office, 975 South High St., Harrisonburg VA 22801

                       Remote working acceptable:   Yes   No   Hybrid

PAY RANGE: $37,000 - $40,000

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESThe Information & Assistance Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for older adults and caregivers seeking VPAS and community services. The position assesses needs, provides information and assistance, determines eligibility, connects individuals with appropriate resources, and coordinates referrals for VPAS services. The Information & Assistance Specialist also supports enrollment and reassessment activities, maintains accurate and timely documentation in PeerPlace, and ensures services are provided in accordance with VPAS policies and program requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge: Familiarity with the Harrisonburg-Rockingham community and available resources; understanding of aging and the needs of older adults and caregivers.

Skills: Strong communication, interviewing, documentation, organization, problem-solving, and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and web-based applications.

Abilities: Ability to assess needs, prioritize responsibilities, work independently and collaboratively, maintain accurate documentation, and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds with empathy, patience, and professionalism.

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant human services experience.

Experience: Two years of human services experience working with older adults preferred.
